It's not the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

As the imported organic pumpkins were $30 (!) we went with a slightly different, much cheaper member of the squash family who may not have been the handsomest fellow...

  

....but he was actually rather perfect for an expat Halloween. There was compound-wide trick or treating and Matthew took Michael round while Joseph handed out sweets at our place which was a nice reminder of something familiar in the land of sand and camels. For a Brit, even one who lived in the US for so long, I still don't really get Halloween, but let's just say I am looking forward to November 5th.
