A little before and after

Time to show you what we've been up to in the long task of getting our house together. In Chicago we had packed with the expectation of storing our things so had sold a lot of big stuff like couches, coffee tables, and beds. We never expected to be trying to decorate a house of this size. Here is a quick reminder of the floor plan. It's still a work in progress; more carpets to get, a non-Ikea couch that isn't slowly collapsing each time you sit on it, a breakfront for the dining room to get all our crockery out of the boxes as they currently don't have a home etc... But as you can see it's a vast, vast improvement over what we lived with for the first five months (five months!) in the house. First up is the "before" living room -

The living room is huge - about 22ft long by 12ft wide. Above is the view from the door into the room. Like our classy curtains made out of a sheet? Even better when you know they were held up with binder clips! Oy vey. And below is the reverse shot with the door to the hallway.

Now for the current setup which we will call the "during" shot . Much, much better, although not finished yet. We still need a coffee table, the aforementioned new couch, a pair of chairs along with a small table for chess for the library end of the room and perhaps a new colour paint on the walls. All in good time!
